Just one more rock . . .

Rockhounding is an exciting treasure hunt for all ages! Hidden beneath so many dull rock surfaces, faithful rock-hounders uncover beautiful rock and mineral specimens.

Following their frequent road trips to find rocks, Larry will spend much of his time inspecting the finds and deciding which will make the most beautiful cabochons. He then slices the rock, and uses a stencil to choose the cabochon shape. After he has done this, he will saw around the stone, to cut out the shape he has drawn. Larry will take the stone to the grinder to smooth and to round it off. Finally, he will polish the stone to a high luster. It is a lengthy process, but he enjoys each step.

Although Larry has access to grinding and polishing equipment, rock tumblers in his workshop, he enjoys doing much of this work at the local rock club. He is an active member at the rock club and also volunteers his time.
