Member of “Artists of the Superstitions” & “Calligraphy Society of Arizona“

From the website: A.O.T.S. was originally formed in March of 2007 as the Gold Canyon Artists Group, a group of artists living and working in the Gold Canyon and Apache Junction areas of Arizona.
We are a diverse group representing an interesting array of art mediums. The membership produces and presents work in watercolor, acrylic and oil painting, photography, wood turning, pottery, jewelry, three dimensional art (including gourds and masks), and much more.
Inspired by the Superstition Mountains, the imposing landmark that is part of our daily lives, we changed the name of the group from the Gold Canyon Artists Group to Artists of the Superstitions in January of 2008.
In May of 2008, steps were taken to further organize the group and a steering committee of five was established. This committee was formed from two of the founding members and an additional three appointed members. The structure will allow us to grow and increase the value of the Artists of the Superstitions to other artists and to the surrounding community.
December 2010, AOTS was accepted into the Arizona Art Alliance, a consortium of Art Groups in the greater Phoenix area. The members will now be allowed to exhibit at more venues across the valley.

A SHORT History of C.S.A.
From the website: Our Society’s first meeting was on October 11, 1978, as the Phoenix Society for Calligraphy. At the time, calligraphic fervor was taking hold across the country. Calligraphy guilds had begun in nearly every state and memberships soared. Interest in calligraphy was high, and guilds were an important touchpoint for passing along the how-to of calligraphy, or, “beautiful writing”.
Personal Note: During the 1990’s, I was a very active member, of the board and also president. I loved the society, and the members! Recently I’ve chosen to re-introduce calligraphy and paper arts into my art life with my first purchase of a gel plate, and a renewed love of paper. You’ll discover oodles of motivating “youtube” videos on this subject. Youtube can be a wonderful source of ideas and motivation! Love, Sharon

The Town of Florence was founded in 1866 and is the sixth-oldest non-Native American settlement in the state of Arizona.
Florence is the county seat of Pinal County and is situated in the central portion of Arizona, about 45 minutes away from both the Phoenix and Tucson metropolitan areas. Three major transportation corridors run through Florence, including Highway 287, Highway 79 and Hunt Highway.
